Politics

You don't like the political situation in our country?  First off, if you don't vote, shut up!  You're like a person who complains their cloths stink but won't do the laundry.  You people can leave this page NOW.  If you DO vote, read on.

Let's all swallow hard and own up to the fact that WE hired our public servants.  What is that you say?  They didn't do what they promised?  Ohh.  Soooo sorry. They weren't who you thought they were?  Awwww, poor baby!  Let's consider a few questions and maybe we can zero in on the problem.

  1. Did you research the guy/girl you voted for or did you make your choice based on any of the following? ~ His TV commercial ~ you voted along party lines ~ who your mom/dad voted for ~ who your employer told you to ~ because your church told you to ~ because of the color of his skin ~ because you're a lazy ass who can't be bothered to study the candidate's record of ACTION rather than rhetoric ~ because he has nice hair!  If your answer did not include the words "research" or "educate myself" you are an idiot and the reason this country has gone to Hell in a hand basket!
  2. Do you believe your vote 'doesn't matter?'  Well, Einstein, if your vote didn't matter why do you think candidates spend MILLIONS of dollars to get as many of them as possible?  Why do they pound us with endless commercials and try to say all the things we want to hear?  They are a little like young teenage boys who will say ANYTHING to get in a girls panties.  If you ventured out of your cave long enough to see what's going on in the world you probably have heard of something they call the "Arab Spring."  In countries ruled by vicious dictators who wield absolute power and couldn't care less if their subjects live or die, change is happening in dramatic ways.  Supposedly powerless, defenseless people are toppling cruel regimes and taking control of their lives.  Ordinary unarmed citizens are facing soldiers with deadly weapons, tanks and torture.  They still don't have the right to vote but they WILL BE SEEN and they WILL BE HEARD.  They are dying so that they can have what we already do.  Don't be stupid.  VOTE.
  3. This is where I tip my hand and reveal my personal preference politically.  Yeah, I know, who cares, right?  But if you're not curious as to what I think, stop reading.  I'm a liberal.  I vote Democratic most times.  Now Republicans don't have a patent on ignorance or underhanded - I grant you that.  But I root for the "D" guys most times because their agendas at least include mine more often than not.  Sure, they're all rich guys who probably have no clue what its like to shop at Walmart or have to choose which bill to pay this month and which to leave 'till next.  But once again, I make it my business to look beyond speeches and election year promises.  I ask myself a simple question;  was I better off under Republican or Democratic administrations?  Look at the numbers folks.  I couldn't care less what the politicians say.  I look at what they do.  Politicians lie.  My wallet never does.  I vote Democratic.
In 2012 our president has to to fight our enemies abroad, the lousy economy and all the rest of it.  The sad thing is that people in our own government are Hell bent on doing everything in their power to make him fail.  Blocking every effort he makes, every proposal he puts forth (even the Republican based ones,) every person he nominates, every plan he has to rescue this economy.  How can ANYONE accomplish anything under those conditions?  Naturally, there has always been that adversarial dichotomy between the parties but, somehow, its different today.  There is a viciousness and desperation about their efforts against Barack Obama.  Why?  I believe he will prove himself to be one of this country's greatest presidents.  Only time will tell but, in the mean time, God bless Barack Obama and God bless The United States of America!
